  8. IRTS AGM & Dinner
  9.  
  10. All is now ready for the IRTS AGM, Dinner Dance and rally to be 
  11. held over next weekend at Jury's Hotel in Ballsbridge in Dublin, 
  12. hosted by Fingal Radio Club.
  13.  
  14. Some tickets are still available for the Dinner on Saturday night 
  15. and can be had by contacting Brendan O'Kane EI4CYB at 01-8463865 
  16. in the next two days.

  18. The AGM will be held on Sunday starting at 2.30pm and the Rally 
  19. will open at 11 o'clock.

  24. Shannon River Run
  25.  
  26. Last weekend's Shannon River Run caused what was probably the 
  27. biggest gathering of EI and GI amateurs on the air ever. Activity 
  28. was hectic from the off on Friday evening to the close at 1800 on 
  29. Sunday with 80 metres and 2 metres being the most popular bands.

  31. Great credit is due to the net controllers, Noel EI6HW on 80 
  32. metres and Martin EI4IJ on 2 metres who both stayed at their posts 
  33. for the three days.

  35. Six cruisers were on the water, three from Portumna and three from 
  36. Carrick-on-Shannon.
  37.  
  38. EI3SRR operated on the river south of Carrick-on-Shannon and was 
  39. crewed by members of the North Dublin, Fingal and Phoenix Radio 
  40. clubs from north Dublin.
  41.  
  42. EI4SRR was also operating south from Carrick and was run by 
  43. members of the South Dublin Radio Club.
  44.  
  45. EI5SRR was run by members of the Galway VHF Group and operated 
  46. north from Carrick.
  47.  
  48. EI6SRR, crewed by members of the East Cork Group and Limerick 
  49. Radio Club worked north from Portumna while EI7SRR and EI8SRR, 
  50. both crewed by members of the Dalkey Island Group, operated south 
  51. Portumna.

  53. Early indications are that the event was very successful and 
  54. congratulations are due to Paul EI2CA who organised the operation.

  59. Midlands Radio Club AGM
  60.  
  61. The Annual General Meeting of the Midland Radio Club was held 
  62. recently and the following officers were elected for the coming 
  63. year.

  67. Treasurer               Joe, EI7HW
  68.  
  69. Committee members elected were Mike EI3IG, Cyril EI4AGB, Mickey 
  70. EI5EAB, Martin EI4IJ and Kevin EI3FCB.

  72. The Midlands club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 8.30 
  73. pm and will move to a new location at the Cubs Den, St. Mary's 
  74. Hall in Athlone for the May meeting.

  78. Cork Radio Club
  79.  
  80. The Annual General Meeting of the Cork Radio Club was held in
  81. Wilton Park House, on Monday night March 25th.
  82.  
  83. Mike EI2IB was elected Chairman and the new Secretary is Chris 
  84. EI6IA. Committee members elected were EI2HY, Frank EI6EVB, Tony 
  85. Kennedy and Pat EI6DTB. Another committee member will be co-opted.

  87. The Jasper Swanton Trophy was awarded to John Kelleher EI8HS for 
  88. his outstanding contribution to the running of the club over the 
  89. past number of years.

  91. The Jerry Burke Memorial Trophy was awarded to Warren Daly EI6ETB 
  92. for his great achievement in gaining the WEIC Award by working 20 
  93. EI counties on 2 metres during his first year of operating.

  96. Plans are almost finalised for the clubs trip to Cape Clear for 
  97. the IOTA contest and it is also intended to enter the IRTS SSB and 
  98. VHF Field Days later in the year.

  104. Castlecomer Scouts
  105.  
  106. The Scout Group in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny are active on 2 
  107. metres each Friday evening from 8pm local time. They operate under 
  108. the supervision of Pat EI5HR, using his callsign and are usually 
  109. to be found on S22 or on the Mount Leinster repeater. 
  110.  
  111. Several of them are studying for their experimenters examination 
  112. which they hope to sit next month and we wish them well and look 
  113. forward to hearing several new callsigns from County Kilkenny in 
  114. the coming months.

  120. PW Editor visits GI and EI 
  121.  
  122. The Bangor and District Amateur Radio Society played host to Rob 
  123. Mannion, Editor of Practical Wireless at their meeting on Friday 
  124. 12th April 1996 at the Winson Hotel, Queen's Parade, Bangor, Co. 
  125. Down.

  127. Rob will be back again in the coming week, this time on a visit to 
  128. East Cork and he is looking forward to attending the AGM rally in 
  129. Ballsbridge where he hopes to meet many of his friends.
